Arianna Huffington

Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington (Greek American) is a Greek American writer, syndicated-columnist and businesswoman. She co-founded The Huffington Post the founder and chief executive officer of Thrive Global and the author of 15 books. Arianna Huffington, an independent liberal news outlet is a popular TV show host an author and philanthropist. Born in Greece she moved to England when she was 16 and then graduated at the age of 16 from Cambridge University with an MA in Economics. The first graduate of non-UK origin to be elected president of The Cambridge Union at the age of 21. After after her college graduation, she became an influential conservative syndicated journalist. Then, a couple of years after that she launched The Huffington Post which featured critical commentary on the current political landscape. She was able to get several prominent contributors who posted their views on culture and politics. Arianna got noticed after she announced in 2003 that she would be an independent candidate for the California Recall Election to replace Governor Davis. Aside from that, she led the Detroit Project to promote fuel-efficient vehicles. Forbes listed her as the 12th most influential woman on the planet in 2009 and Guardian also included her on the Top 100 List of Media during the same year. AOL Inc. acquired The Huffington Post in 2011 and appointed her as President of their media group, which also included the other AOL brands like Engadget AOL Music Style list and Patch Media. Their parents are Elli and Konstantinos Stasinopoulos. They were a management consultant as well as a journalist. Though she was close to her father, it was the bond she had with her mother that formed her future. While in her formative years, she exhibited leadership skills for which her name is still well-known. She moved to England at 16 to continue her education as well as enrolled at Girton College Cambridge. During her college days she joined the college debating society Cambridge Union where she became the first foreign president and was also the third female president. In 1972, she graduated with an MA in Economics. She worked as a critic in the media, as well as host of a television show and columnist upon her graduation. She also appeared together with Bernard Levin in an episode of Face the music and started writing her own books with his assistance in editing.
