Dolly-Parton
Dolly Parton, born Jan. 19, 1946, in Locust Ridge Tenn. to a family of 12 poor children who would grow up in the same household, figured out very early on how to conquer of the difficulties she faced through her vibrant and imaginative imagination. She was writing songs before she could read or write. After 8 years of age, she was playing her first guitar. At age 11 when she was 11, she began singing at Knoxville Tenn's local radio station. She recorded her first album in the same calendar year on Gold Band Records, a small independent label. While she was studying, she already established herself on the local scene. But her dream was to be able to make music on a larger size. When she graduated from high school in 1964 she moved straight to Nashville. Dumb Blonde (1967) and Something Fishy (1968) were her first two charting albums for Monument Records. Porter Wagoner began looking for female singers to join his television show that was syndicated around the same as the time. Parton joined RCA Records and then joined the Grand Ole Opry. She accepted her job in 1967. It was not until 1974 that she opted to walk away from Wagoner's show because the success of her individual records like Joshua Coat, Many Colors and Jolene had outstripped their collaborative efforts. Parton's hit song, I'll Never Love You (for Wagoner), hit the number. #1 spot following their separated. 1 for the first time in 1974.
